Mission Councils


Congregational Council

The policy making body that provides leadership for the whole congregation. It answers to the congregation. Members of the 2018-19 Congregational Council are:

  • Stephen Becker: Vice President, Congregational Home Mission Council
  • Kirsten Moore: Secretary, Faith and Learning Mission Council
  • Kent Anderson: Treasure, Finance Committee
  • Glenn Nelson: Worship Mission Council
  • Mark Halvorsen: Spiritual Renewal Mission Council
  • Karris Golden: Service Mission Council
  • Kelly Kestner: Youth and Family Ministry Mission Council (shared)
  • Sam Lubs: Youth and Family Ministry Mission Council (shared)
  • Connie Johnson: Nurture Mission Council
  • Roberta Bodensteiner: Vibrant Faith Mission Council

    Cares for the building and the grounds as tools for ministry.


    Faith & Learning

    Develops ways in which the people of Bethlehem can be educated for formation of faith.


    Nurture Council

    Finds ways for the people of Bethlehem to experience the encouragement and family-ness of the God’s people through fellowship ministries.


    Service Council

    Looks for ways in which Bethlehem can serve people in Jesus’ name.


    Spiritual Renewal

    Looks for ways in which the people of BLC can grow as disciples of Jesus.


    Worship

    Plans for worship and coordinates ministries of music and Altar Guild.


    Youth & Family

    Cares for the formation of faith of young people and helps families become places of growth in faith and sponsors age-related youth groups.


    Finance

    Prepares financial statements for the congregation and Congregational Council, receives the proposed mission plans of the ministry councils and proposes the congregational mission plan for approval by congregation council and congregation.


    Ministry Partnership Committee

    Looks at the needs for staffing for Bethlehem and encourages and evaluates the staff in order to help them be effective ministers.


    Endowment Committee

    Manages the endowment fund of Bethlehem and proposes distributions of interest from the fund for the sake of ministries beyond the congregation.
